Insulation Testing Course

Course Overview

Slam Engineering has developed a training package containing theory, practical application and assessment on the use of an Insulation Testing Instrument. The package is designed for participants to attain their competencies necessary to safely use the instrument for “Breakdown Mode” insulation resistance testing.

The training course addresses the key areas of:

The assessment includes theory training and assessment as well as practical content. During the practical, an instrument kit along with a sample length of cable and high voltage earth stick(s) are used to perform practical operation of the test instrument.

This course is conducted in a face to face learning environment and available to be delivered at our Rutherford training facility or a location more suitable to the client.

Using his extensive experience and knowledge, Murray manages client development and project delivery to key clients.
He has more than 26 years’ experience in control and power systems, high voltage, training, facilitation, supervision, heavy mobile equipment, fixed plant, project management, budgeting and fault-finding. Murray gains career satisfaction by taking years of knowledge and practical experience and developing training packages to train others in these special skills.
Prior to founding Slam Engineering, Murray held Superintendent and Specialist positions with Idemitsu, Rio Tinto, Vale and BMA. His engineering consultancy experience includes roles with WorleyParsons and Bechtel.
Murray is a Chartered Professional Engineer having attained dual degrees Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and Bachelor Business from the University of Southern Queensland, he also maintains Electrical Engineers Certificate of Competency (Underground) for NSW and QLD. Murray has attained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and holds Engineers Australia committee position on Standards Australia EL-023 : Electrical Equipment in Mines and Quarries. He is also the Co-President of MEMMES (Mining Electrical Mining Mechanical Engineering Society).
Murray enjoys mentoring young engineers towards attaining their professional goals. In his spare time, he enjoys boating, swimming and squash.
